Following the movie Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan, The Martian is my next movie about journey in space. Of course the story this time is much simpler, not about traveling among time, or touching any difficult concept of science.
The Martian is a story about a group of astronauts carrying out their duty on Mars. Suddenly a severe sandstorm comes and all of them escapes to the spaceship except one man--an astronaut Mark Watney, starred by Matt Damon. The Martian is a story about
survival--when all people leave you, facing the disastrous situation, would you
give up at once, or you would keep your faith, looking for every little chance
to survive? Of Course
Matt
Damon chooses the latter, otherwise the movie would have
ended at the first ten minutes…LOL
The Martian's movie review written by Suhei has made a good point. This story is back to the basic instinct of human, to survive for himself, not for others, not talking about the urge of going to the earth to meet his lovely family again, but just the desire to survive purely, as a human being.
He records a video for his parent expressing
his gratitude to his parent for bringing him to see this beautiful world. He believes
he is going to die, but he never regrets as an astronaut as he is really obsessed with
the planets. Isn’t the best thing that you’ve decided your devotion to
something and you are willing to sacrifice everything for the "failure"?
